VERMONT PHOTOGRAPHERS BRING THEIR SLIDESHOW SERIES TO THE KILLINGTON REGION

SHOW MAKES CASE FOR PROTECTING PATAGONIA’s LAST FRONTIER

Green Mountains, VT - On Thursday, Dec. 6, Moretown, VT-based adventurers/photographers Brian Mohr and Emily Johnson will bring their multi-media show, “Skiing Patagonia 2” to the Inn at Long Trail in Killington, VT. The show is part of the photographers ongoing Wild People, Wild Places program, and will start at 7pm.

While travelling by bicycle though southern Chile’s Patagonia region in 2000, Moretown, VT-based adventurers/photographers Brian Mohr and Emily Johnson stumbled upon one of the planet's wildest reaches - the Rio Baker Valley. Home to the region’s largest and wildest river, countless glaciers and vast reserves of unexplored mountains - the Rio Baker Valley is also acutely threatened by plans to develop the region for industrial-scale hydropower.

"We returned last October to explore the region on skis, but also to work with the local and global communities that are trying to stop the damming of Patagonia,” says Mohr, who went to the region with Johnson on assignment for Backcountry Magazine. "This is a story about enjoying and protecting one of the planet's most incredible places."

The show features a mix of video and stills, and includes a raffle of outdoor gear donated by various slideshow sponsors. A percentage of all proceeds will be donated to conservation efforts in Patagonia. Mohr and Johnson are regular contributors to Vermont Life, Vermont Sports and Backcountry Magazine, which featured this adventure in the magazine's Feb. 07 issue.
